New world record for a Strad
The « Lady Blunt » violin 1721 by Antonio Stradivari, owned by the Nippon Foundation, was sold on the 21st of june in a Tarisio online auction for $15.9m which makes the world.
Built during the Golden Period of the Master, it is one of the best-preserved among the 600 instruments still present today. During the past, it already fetched a world record price at Sotheby’s auction sale in 1971.
